The Massachusetts Director of Boards and Commissions, Ed Palleschi, swore in William J. Walczak as chair of the Bunker Hill Community College Board of Trustees in a ceremony at the State House on October 22.

Bunker Hill Community College celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month 2015 with a series of events that honored the history, arts and culture of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Events were held at the College’s Charlestown Campus and at its campus in Chelsea, one of the state’s three cities with a majority Hispanic or Latino population.

On November 4, 2015, Senator Elizabeth Warren delivered remarks on the Senate floor addressing college affordability. Bunker Hill Community College is mentioned at the 1 minute 10 seconds mark.

Award-winning journalist, documentary filmmaker and best-selling author Sebastian Junger, who saw combat while embedded with U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, visited Bunker Hill Community College on November 12 in honor of Veterans Day. Junger shared his experiences as a war reporter and filmmaker. He has covered major international news stories for Vanity Fair and ABC News and directed the documentaries Restrepo and Korengal, based on his experiences in Afghanistan.

Filmmaker and author Baptist de Pape visited Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) on November 5 for a screening of his film The Power of the Heart, which ties to a book of the same name. Featuring interviews with Paulo Coelho, Maya Angelou, Deepak Chopra, Isabel Allende, Eckhart Tolle and other spiritual leaders, the film makes a case for the transformative power of the human heart.

Beginning in January Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) will offer an introductory psychology course for college credit in North Quincy.

More than 850 runners participated in the Boston River Run 5K on Sunday, November 8, 2015, to raise $25,000 for a scholarship at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC). Race organizer John Narcus, who graduated from the College in 2013, announced at the start of the race that the goal had been met and BHCC President Pam Y. Eddinger gratefully acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved.
