EEC Career Pathways

Program Overview

Bunker Hill Community College’s (BHCC) Career Pathways program is designed to expand the Early Childhood Education workforce, and those interested in joining the field, to receive the classes and support needed to attain professional qualifications certification from the Department of Early Education and Care.

Complete our required intake form for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Getting Started

The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) is encouraging students to enroll in and complete a Certificate in Early Childhood Development at BHCC.

Applicants need to complete the steps below:

  1. Apply to BHCC (select the Certificate in Early Childhood Development) (15 min.)
  2. Complete the FAFSA application (30 min. If you have your tax forms ready) For students who do not qualify for FAFSA, but have completed high school in Massachusetts, apply for MAFSA
  3. Take the English Self Guided Assessment (10-15 min.)
  4. Complete the START NOW Orientation. Registration information will be sent once your application has been accepted. (4 hours)
  5. Apply for the ECE scholarship through MassAid (link/account set up will be sent to you, once you complete the FAFSA)

In cases where students are ineligible for financial aid, after completing the FAFSA and the ECE scholarship application, BHCC does have very limited funds for students to enroll in Child Growth and Development, Director I and Director II classes. Funding decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
