About Ethnographies of Work
Ethnographies of Work (EoW) is an initiative designed to embed career literacy in curricula across all disciplines. EoW provides students with opportunities to learn about social mobility through ethnographic research methods such as workplace observations, informational interviews, and reflective writing. These opportunities are designed as building blocks for students to then engage in job shadowing and internships. This initiative is asset-based, inclusive, and grounded in theories of cultural wealth. EoW works in collaboration with the offices of LifeMap and Advising, Workforce Development, Community Engagement, and Internships and Career Development.
The mission of Ethnographies of Work is to embed career literacy in curricula across all disciplines and expand the initiative to reach all students during first-year experience courses and, later, within their chosen program of study.
The vision for Ethnographies of Work is to democratize exposure to career exploration, to provide opportunities to develop career readiness skills, and to empower students to take meaningful steps toward fulfilling career goals.

Participants are expected to engage and share with their cohort during the workshop and pilot term.
The Community of Practice II (CoP II) professional development workshop is offered for faculty who have completed CoP I PD and have integrated assignments and activities in the curriculum for at least two semesters.
