English language learners, please join Language Lab ELL/English tutor Joshua Heerter and AAPI Success Coach Vivian Lin for our weekly conversation groups. We focus on pronunciation, grammar, and usual American ways of speaking. We plan to talk about important topics for BHCC students, including: registration, financial aid, career planning, on-campus jobs, communicating with professors, strategies for language learners in class, and much more! The groups are free to join, there is no registration required, and all may join for as long or as little as they wish. As a college instructor, he’s taught at Oregon State University, the University of Tampa, the College of Wooster, the University of Missouri, and now Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he's an Assistant Teaching Professor. He’s the author of Half Out Where, a collection of poetry and prose. Anicia Kuchesky has been a fast food worker turned general manager, an elementary school librarian, a gifted & talented teacher and is now a library director at Labouré College of Healthcare in Milton, Massachusetts. She stumbled on librarianship completely by accident and has been a librarian for 15 years. Kate McIntyre has been a caterer, a server, a travel guide editor, an online content writer, an editor at a greeting card company, and a managing editor at a literary magazine. Now, she's an assistant professor of English and creative writing at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Her debut story collection, Mad Prairie, was selected by Roxane Gay as the winner of the Flannery O'Connor Award and is out now from University of Georgia Press. Mina Remy is the Development Director at Black Organizing for Leadership and Dignity (BOLD), a national training intermediary focused on strengthening Black social justice infrastructure in the United States. Prior to BOLD Mina accompanied social movements in the Caribbean, the Middle East and West Africa over the course of nine years at Grassroots International. With time spent in both program and fundraising teams, Mina brings deep experience in grantmaking, grantseeking, and nurturing funder and partner relationships to their work. Mina has a background in law and public policy; enjoys learning from and being inspired by social movements from around the world; and nurtures a passion for sustainable livelihoods, social justice and collective liberation.
