Facebook Partners with BHCC to Offer Digital Marketing Course

Friday, August 16, 2019

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) has partnered with Facebook to offer a Social Media Marketing course through Facebook’s Community Boost program. The Community Boost program was created by Facebook to promote digital skills to small businesses and individuals to meet the demand for digital marketing skills in today’s economy. Since 2014, the number of digital marketing jobs has increased 17% every year; that is twice the amount of digital marketing jobs available today than five years ago.

In September, BHCC will offer a Social Media Marketing course. The seven-week hybrid course (online and in-person) will introduce students to the basics of digital marketing skills and best practices. The course will cover techniques for each step of planning, creating and launching social media marketing campaigns, with a focus on using Facebook’s platform. Students will go through all the steps to create a social media ad campaign for a real company—including a $50 Facebook credit to launch a real ad at the end of the course.

This course was designed with input from digital marketing professionals from a variety of industries and roles. The material is relevant and includes up-to-date content teaching the tools and practices used by digital marketing professionals today. The project-based learning experience will guide students through the process of building a marketing plan for a company of their choice and will include real-world digital marketing case studies and examples.

With many jobs demanding skills in digital marketing, this course includes strategies for finding digital marketing jobs, updating resumes and using LinkedIn. Jobs that require these in-demand skills include: Digital Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Associate, Social Media Coordinator, SEO/Backlink Specialist, and Email Marketer.

The course will run from September 17— November 5, 2019 on Tuesday nights from 6-8:45 p.m. at the BHCC Charlestown Campus’ Innovation Lab. The program costs $400 and registration is required. To register for the program, visit bhcc.edu/facebook-partnership.
