Closure Notifications
In the event of weather conditions severe enough to cause cancellation or a delayed opening of classes at any of the BHCC campuses or satellites, the BHCC community will be notified of closure via:
- an announcement on the BHCC outgoing phone message at 617-228-2000
- an announcement on the website at bhcc.edu
- a text alert and voice to text message sent to cell phone numbers and other numbers entered in the opt-in BHCC Alert System; sign up for the BHCC Alert System at bhcc.edu/alertsignup/
- The following radio and television stations:

General announcements citing “all state colleges or all state offices,” do not apply to the College unless they are in connection with a State of Emergency declared by the Governor of Massachusetts. This closure policy applies to students, faculty and staff at the following locations:
- Charlestown Campus
- Chelsea Campus
- East Boston Satellite
- Malden Satellite
- South End Satellite
Parking
During a winter storm closing, vehicles are not allowed to be parked in campus or satellite campus parking lots due to snow removal operations. All vehicles will be towed.
Recommendations
- Stay safe, warm, dry and calm
- Do not drive unnecessarily
- Dress warmly enough to prevent frostbite and hypothermia
- Do not go outside unless absolutely necessary
- When shoveling snow, do not overtax your physical abilities; take frequent breaks.
