Bunker Hill Community College Receives funding from City of Somerville for ESOL Workforce Project

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) has been awarded $250,000 from the City of Somerville’s Job Creation and Retention Trust Board. The grant project, entitled SELL –Somerville English Language Learners – is shared with employer partner East Somerville Main Streets(ESMS), the Community Action Agency of Somerville(CAAS), and The Welcome Project (TWP). The funds will provide no-cost English as a Second Language classes and customer service training to low-income Somerville residents between September 2020 and June 2021.

BHCC’s VP Administration & Finance John Pitcher Selected As HUB Leader NACUBO Ascendium Student Success Grant

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) John Pitcher, Vice President, Administration & Finance, is among business and academic leaders selected to participate as a HUB Leader for the planning and implementation of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Ascendium Student Success Grant, a $1.1 million planning grant from Ascendium Education Group. This grant will develop an infrastructure for a multi-institution, multi-initiative process focused on student success at colleges and universities. The grant will fund NACUBO’s work with institutions that enroll high percentages of typically underserved students, including community colleges, smaller, rural institutions, and small to mid-size public institutions.

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) Division of Economic and Workforce Development is offering the Google IT Support Professional Certificate Program, a five-course non-credit program developed by Google. IT Support is one of the fastest-growing fields in the United States, and this program prepares students for an entry-level job in IT Support. The program is part of Grow with Google, a Google initiative to help create economic opportunities for all Americans.

Chief Equity and Compliance Officer Joins Bunker Hill Community College

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nahomi Carlisle, Esq., to the position of Chief Equity and Compliance Officer (CECO) of the College. In this new role initiated by BHCC’s Equity Work Group (EWG), Carlisle will collaborate with the College's equity leaders to advance institutional equity work at BHCC. Carlisle will also serve as the College’s Affirmative Action Officer, and Title IX and Section 504/ADA Coordinator.
