Bunker Hill Community College Magazine Wins Two Gold Communications Awards
Bunker Hill Community College received two top awards from District One of the National Council for Marketing and Publications (NCMPR) at the organization’s conference in Baltimore, November 13 to 15, BHCC President Mary L. Fifield announced today. NCMPR sets the standards for professionals working in the areas of communications, marketing, fundraising and alumni relations at two-year colleges nationwide.
Workforce Development Center Offers Self-Defense Training for Airlines' Personnel on Dec. 11th
The Workforce Development Center at Bunker Hill Community College is offering a Crew Member Self-Defense Training (CMSDT) program for all actively employed flight and cabin crew members of U.S. passenger and cargo carriers. The one-day hands-on training course, which is free of cost to qualified crew members, will be offered on Sunday, December 11: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
College Makes "Top 40" List of Institutions with "Most International Students"
In the Chronicle of Higher Education's List of the "Top 40" Associate Institutions with the "most international students" BHCC was number 26, President Mary L. Fifield announced today. BHCC is the only community college in Massachusetts to make the "Top 40" List of Associate Institutions. The College's current international enrollment is 784, an increase of 30 students over the figure of 754 cited in the Chronicle's list. BHCC’s international students come from more than 90 countries and speak 75 different languages.
Four Chelsea Students Receive Full Scholarships to Bunker Hill Community College
FUEL students Camilo Camacho of Northeast Metro Tech High School, and Hector Mendoza, Alvaro Pleitez-Martinez and Thalia Pliego of Chelsea High School, are the recipients of four full in-state tuition scholarships to Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC). They are enrolled for classes this fall.
Bunker Hill Community College Among "Leader Colleges" for Student Completion
Bunker Hill Community College has won recognition as a Leader College by Achieving the Dream, a national nonprofit dedicated to helping community college students succeed. BHCC is one of 23 institutions nationwide to win such designation for demonstrating sustained improvement and accomplishments on key student achievement indicators.
Bunker Hill Community College to Host Award-Winning Author Tim O'Brien
In honor of Veterans Day, The Bunker Hill Community College Veterans Center will be presenting Vietnam veteran and award-winning author, Tim O’Brien, on Thursday, November 10 at 1 p.m. in Room C202. O’Brien, who visited BHCC last year, is the author of eight books, most notably, The Things They Carried, listed by the New York Times as among the 20 best books of the last 25 years. O’Brien is known for his compelling portrayals of the Vietnam War and its impact on American servicemen and women engaged in that conflict.
