BHCC’s Athletic Banquet Celebrates Student-Athletes and Staff

Thursday, June 12, 2025

On Tuesday, May 13, BHCC honored BHCC athletes at an award banquet on the Charlestown campus. There were 19 coaches’ award recipients and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recognitions presented at the celebration (see list below).

Sam Kennedy, CEO and President of the Boston Red Sox, served as the keynote speaker. A leader in the Boston Red Sox organization for 24 years, Kennedy praised Athletic Director Tony Price for his leadership and emphasized the importance of inclusivity at Fenway Park. He shared his journey from being cut from the Trinity College baseball team to securing an internship with the New York Yankees, highlighting the value of hard work and passion. He encouraged student-athletes to pursue their passions with dedication, stressing the necessity of not taking themselves too seriously and supporting one another. The speaker concluded by recognizing the student-athletes' achievements and expressing pride in their success.

Also in May, 36 NJCAA student athletes were named to the NJCAA Honor Roll, recognized for excellence in maintaining a full-time course load and achieving a 3.2 GPA or higher for the spring ’25 semester.
