Welcome to the Division of Professional Studies and Workforce Development at Bunker Hill Community College. We are an innovative, leading edge Division, which prepares you for success in 21st Century careers. The Division houses seven academic departments, and the Department of Workforce Development, which offers non-credit courses and programs.
Our goal is to provide you with a rigorous education to prepare you for the world of work and/or to transfer to a four-year degree program. Our faculty is comprised of well-trained academics and experienced professionals with ties to industry in the Greater Boston area, which provide work experience through internships and practicums.
As many of you lead complicated lives, we offer courses in the classroom during the day, evening and weekends, as well as online. Some courses run the full semester, some are ‘minis’ (half-semester) and some are ‘fast-track’ or accelerated (four weeks). We also provide opportunities for students to become involved in community service, such as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which completes over 3,000 tax returns each year for Massachusetts taxpayers, or through other hands-on, experiential activities, such as the creation of websites and mobile apps for non-profit organizations.
The Department of Workforce Development aims to close workforce skills gaps, empower personal advancement, promote academic success, and foster wellness, growth and lifelong learning. It houses Community Education, Corporate Training, the Community Center for Entrepreneurship, and Adult Basic Education. We are working to align our non-credit offerings with credit-bearing courses and programs, to create multiple points of entrance to higher education. Furthermore, most of our Certificates stack into an Associate Degree, which provides you with a clear pathway from Certificate to Associate Degree.
Whether you are a prospective or current student, an alumnus, or a member of the local community, we welcome your inquiries and look forward to welcoming you to the Division of Professional Studies & Workforce Development.
