Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) welcomed new faculty and staff members at the College’s annual Convocation event, held on Thursday, September 2. During the event, BHCC faculty and staff members gathered together to kick off the 2016-2017 academic year, welcome new faculty and staff and engage in the early stages of planning for “the year of the engaged campus.”

Vice President and Provost Dr. James Canniff invited BHCC faculty and staff to a special reception on September 8 in honor of new additions Michelle Bloomer, Dana Brown and Marika Hamilton. “These individuals come to us with impressive credentials and years of experience in higher education,” said Dr. Canniff. “I am pleased to welcome them to the College.”

Michelle Bloomer, Dean of Professional Studies and Workforce Development, comes to BHCC from Middlesex Community College, where she served since 2002, most recently as Assistant Dean of Education and Public Service. Prior to her work in education, Michelle was an attorney; she still devotes time to pro bono legal work. Bloomer holds a B.A. in Economics from Boston College and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.

The program allows Malden High School students to take BHCC courses in MHS classrooms. Brown holds a B.A. in Secondary Education and History from Boston College and an M.Ed. from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Marika Hamilton joins BHCC as Executive Director, Academic Services and Registrar. Hamilton has more than 10 years of experience in postsecondary education.
