Thursday, March 22, 2012

Bunker Hill Community College was honored by the state Department of Fire Services for adopting nationally recognized standards for students majoring in Fire Protection and Safety. The superintendent of the National Fire Academy presented a certificate of recognition to representatives of BHCC at a ceremony held at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in Stow, on March 14, 2012.

The College offers both a 27-credit Certificate and a 61-credit Associate in Science degree in Fire Protection and Safety. Both the certificate and degree programs offer the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) model curriculum.

BHCC began offering FESHE courses in summer 2011. The program, which offers the FESHE curriculum both online and in the classroom, currently enrolls 92 students.  “We are very pleased to be offering a curriculum with national recognition that maximizes transfer and employment opportunities for our students” said BHCC Dean of Professional Studies Bogusia Wojciechowska.
