Concentration Overview

This concentration prepares students to transfer to four-year colleges or universities to seek bachelors’ degrees in mathematics. After transferring, students study to become more proficient in areas such as abstract algebra, complex variables, vector calculus, number theory and partial differential equations. Graduates of this concentration may qualify to transfer using benefits of MassTransfer to a four-year state college or University of Massachusetts campus. Career Outlook

Graduates of this concentration should transfer to a four-year college or university, as most entry-level employment opportunities in industry require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Professional positions in education and research fields usually require a minimum of a master’s degree.

Upon Completion of this Concentration Graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze and solve quantitative problems.
  • Reason logically from hypothesis to conclusion. 
  • Understand and appreciate an analytical approach to problem solving.
