English Study for Au Pairs
Are you an Au Pair who wants to improve your English skills? Then English Study for Au Pairs is for you!
Classes run Saturdays and Sundays for up to ten weekends. As an Au Pair, who have the option to choose the full, ten-weekend study, which gives you 120 hours or six weekend study, 72 hours. Class each day runs six hours. You will receive 12 hours of classroom instruction per week.
How it works
You may purchase either the full ten-weekend or shorter six-weekend option. You choose the number of study weeks based on your personal situation and preference.
There are five sections for the six-weekend classes. The only difference between sections is when the course starts and ends.
Sections 01-06 all offer the same level of English instruction. If you are interested in the six-weekend course of study, you have the ability to choose the section that best suits your schedule.
Class Structure and Materials
Class time is spent learning and practicing English skills from Listening and Speaking to Reading and Writing and Grammar. You will study English with others who have similar English abilities. The texts you will be using during the course of study are from the Cambridge University Press Touchstone/Viewpoint series. The textbooks can be purchased prior to the beginning of class from the campus bookstore (located on the 4th floor of the E-building).
Credit Hours and Course Completion
While there are no credits attached to the English classes, the 72 hours for the 6-weekend course meet the language instruction requirements for Au Pairs. The program will give you a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the course, which you can then present to your Au Pair agency as proof of having met the English language requirement.
