If a student registers for the class without taking the placement test, they will risk the wrong level placement and may be asked to change levels. The emphasis in Basic ESL classes is on preparing students for Academic ESL. This Level 3 class, the last level before Academic ESL, continues to develop the four primary skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Related skills such as vocabulary, spelling, pronunciation, meaning and usage will also be covered. This integrated-skills approach to learning English helps students to interact naturally in the language. Students will read articles of considerable length, discuss them in groups, answer comprehension questions and write paragraphs and longer essays about the articles. Students will also make short presentations to the class. Articles will be related to the theme of education in the U.S., and BHCC in particular. Students will further develop their English language proficiency in grammar and vocabulary through reading, writing, and discussion in the context of the theme.

Take the one-day TiPS course followed by the one-week Hands-On Bartending course.  TiPS is designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking, drunk driving, and teaches strategies that ensure responsible alcohol service and consumption.  The one-week Hands-On Bartending course runs the entire week , Monday – Friday, following the TiPS course on Sat.  Designed for anyone interested in getting a bartending job, students get hands-on training by industry experts in an authentic, simulated bar set-up environment.

Craft Cocktails & Mixology Class (Includes Cocktail Tastings and Appetizers!)WCE-304E $119

The Craft Cocktails & Mixology Class is an entertaining, hands-on demonstration and coaching of techniques to prepare flavorful, well-balanced craft cocktails.  Includes cocktail tastings and appetizers.  You will be behind the bar preparing and tasting your own craft cocktails. The cocktails class is perfect for couples, cocktail enthusiasts, and home bartenders. Must be 21 years and older.

Materials fee of $10 (students will pay this fee on the first day of class).
