When George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer in 2020, it shocked the nation and inspired some of the largest gatherings and rallies for racial justice and civil rights in a generation. His younger brother, Philonise Floyd, had been thrust into the national spotlight even as he grieved the loss. Since that time, Philonise Floyd has learned to turn his sorrow and indignation into activism, speaking across the country and to the United Nations about the pattern of violence against Black people by police. He also founded an organization called PAKFISC, with a goal of support families and loved ones of victims, like his brother George.
