Celebrate the Life of Bolivar
Come and join the HOPE Initiative for our signature monthly event: #BREAKINGBREAD. This event is free of charge and is supported by the HOPE initiative. In addition to learning more about HOPE (Halting Oppressive Pathways through Education), a program designed to examine and eliminate the social, institutional, and academic barriers that often prevent males of color from achieving their full potential at BHCC and beyond, we will gather to “#BREAKBREAD” and remember and celebrate the life of an outstanding young man, Bolivar Soto. Bolivar epitomized everything that HOPE is about; a young man from an underrepresented community committed to empowering those around him, while bringing people together every step of the way. Bolivar inspired so many of us while he attended BHCC and participated in HOPE, and we continue his legacy through a memorial scholarship in his name. We will also recognize our most recent scholarship recipient, Walterson Cadet, who was awarded the scholarship in Fall 2024.

The Ways of Grace - Poems of Truth & Joy Collages, poems and photographs by Robin
Chandler honors truth as a powerful wellspring of wisdom and the visual imagination. She merges wordsmithing to create a lyrical tradition of figurative language that articulates both political and spiritual practice. An exploratory conversation between imagery and text as a harmonic expression of narration and storytelling.
Refreshments will be served.
