BHCC Events Calendar

Each year, BHCC students are accepted to some of the most selective colleges in the nation. But to get accepted, students need to take steps to challenge themselves and strategically plan. Students who maintain high academic achievement are encouraged to apply to selective institutions. This workshop will focus on the first two stages of transferring - Planning and Exploring - with emphasis on increasing your competitiveness for admissions. Topics will include searching for colleges, scholarships, co-curricular involvement, networking, and college transfer essays.

The purpose of this group is to acquire and practice standardized American English, while at the same time learning how to navigate life at the College as an English Language Learner and/or immigrant. We will talk about the best language learning methods, along with strategies for dealing with coursework, professors, classmates, registration, transfer and career planning, financial issues, and much more. We discuss many of the challenges of life at the College, as well the ways to take advantage of the many opportunities that exist at Bunker Hill as well. The group is open to all students.

Financial Aid and Scholarships: Simmons offers their Boston Community College Scholarship, which is a two year, full-tuition scholarship, for candidates graduating from Bunker Hill Community College with an Associate’s degree. Criteria includes a minimum 3.0 GPA, associate's degree completion, and have demonstrated creativity, engagement, global perspective, leadership, resiliency, or other qualities indicative of the ability to contribute to Simmons’s diverse community.

Simmons offers additional, generous financial aid packages outside the BCC Scholarship.

Program for Post-Traditional Students: The REAL Program provides a full-time Tufts undergraduate education for adults seeking a Bachelor's degree. The program is intended for students who are 24 years of age or older, parents, married, veterans, or currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Financial Aid and Scholarships: Tufts proudly meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for all students ensuring that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of opportunity.

Online, correspondence, or distance-learning courses will not be accepted for Tufts credit, except for online courses taken during specific terms. However, grades from these courses will still be factored into GPA calculations.

Join the International Student Association and Asian Cultural Center to decorate red paper envelopes and participate in Lunar New Year customs.

The College sets aside certain hours for student activities, athletics and club meeting times. Generally, no classes are held at these times. Join us for Midday Meetups every Tuesday and Thursday from 1-2:15pm in D-Lounge, 2nd floor (today's event is in E-337).

Small group sessions focused on improving skills related to the TOEFL English proficiency exam.

Are you preparing to graduate and working on your transfer applications? This session is designed to give you the time and space to focus.

You'll have access to a quiet workspace where you can work independently on your four-year college applications - whether you're starting your Common App, drafting your transfer essay, or gathering materials. A transfer advisor will be available to help with questions, offer guidance on where to begin, and point you toward helpful resources.

While this isn't a formal workshop with step-by-step instruction, it's a great opportunity to get support with those tricky or unclear parts of the process. Use the time in whatever way works best for you.

Desktop computers will be available, or feel free to bring your laptop, drafts, and questions. We're here to help you move forward!

Join us for an evening of reflection and connection! This event is a space for students to break their fast together and for the wider BHCC community to learn about the traditions of Ramadan. Get energized and centered in this breathing and mindfulness journey. Yusef Hayes will guide you through an active breathwork practice designed to help you uplift and energize. After that there will be another guided meditation to help you relax and de-stress.

No meditation experience is necessary.
