Board Member Gerardo Villacres Keynotes Somerville Chamber of Commerce Meeting

Gerardo Villacrés, a member of the Bunker Hill Community College Board of Trustees, and leading figure in media, marketing and community affairs delivered the keynote address Wednesday, November 3, at the 64th annual dinner of the Somerville Chamber of Commerce. Villacrés is also the co-founder of “El Planeta,” the largest Spanish-language weekly in the Boston area.

Ronald Bonney, Jr., who serves as First Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Bunker Hill Community College, chairs the Somerville Chamber of Commerce.

Bunker Hill Community College was a “major sponsor” of the Somerville event. Dr. Mary Fifield, president of the College, also spoke at the conference. Dr. Fifield showed participants a recent video on the “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,” which highlighted the College’s efforts to respond to the needs of all sectors of the local workforce by offering Midnight Courses.

The dinner is the foremost yearly gathering of local business, civic and community leaders in Somerville. The evening also included an auction benefiting local member nonprofit organizations.
